I find I'm following newspaper endorsements recommendations a lot less closely this year. Probably because the close races are all further down the ballot.

In the U.S. Senate race, for instance, I very much doubt any newspaper in the state will recommend Harris with the exception of the Fla. Times-Union. Which has not yet recommended. I can't wait to read it. (I should have said daily paper because there is the Polk County Democrat, a weekly that recommended Harris.)

So far for governor:

+ Miami Herald: Crist.

+ Orlando Sentinel: Crist.

+ Daytona Beach News-Journal: Davis.

+ Palm Beach Post: Davis.

+ Tampa Trib: Crist.

+ Naples Daily News: Crist.

Meanwhile, the Sun-Sentinel recommends Clay Shaw for Congress because he brings home the bacon and might bring more home if he become chairman of Ways and Means. Argumentum ad pork.

Uh, not if the Dems take the House, he won't. And no mention of a big ol' world beyond Dist. 22 and that there's this war going on that may not be going so well.

Comments:
While I didn't see the Polk County Democrat editorial endorsing Harris, you've gotta remember that 1) Katherine was born and raised in Bartow, and 2) The Democrat is based in Bartow, which is also home to Citrus & Chemical Bank, the business that was founded and led by Ms. Harris' grandfather until his passing earlier this year. Simply a case of old school "who you know" mentality. Also, the publisher is a hard core conservative.
